Watershed Management: A Community
Process Item #5102 (set of 9 different posters): $24.50 Item #5105SET = Poster (P1005) + Puzzle (5105): $19 Most of us do not spend much time thinking about how the rain that falls in the far corners of our watershed flows to our rivers, lakes, wetlands, and streams, and finally to our faucets. But the water does flow to us, and everything we do in the watershed affects our water and other natural resources. Managing a watershed wisely and economically requires everyone to play a role: teachers, business leaders, builders, farmers, governing agencies, and citizens. How do we begin watershed management? In Phase 1, we work with our neighbors to assess our watershed's resources. In Phase 2, we identify priorities and set goals for our management project, and in Phase 3, we put our strategies to work and monitor our progress. Watershed management is not difficult and look how much we gain: good jobs, new places to live, flood protection, good quality drinking water, and places to walk, swim, and fish! This full-color friendly poster, created
in cooperation with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5, provides
an overview of a watershed and the roles that we can play to protect as
well as enjoy the environment around us. |
