What Customers Say About EnviroScape!

Community Outreach and Public Relations
Fairs, Parks, Museums, Zoos, Aquariums, Botanical Gardens, Estuariums, Water and Wetland Education Centers

"I have been using EnvrioScape Models for over twenty years to help bring environmental education and natural resource topics to life. This has spanned from Washington State demonstrating soil erosion and BMPs, to the Oregon Coast to highlight the importance of watershed protection and restoration for salmon and now in Hawaii to show kids and adults how non-point source pollution negatively impacts our nearshore environment and coral reef habitat. EnvrioScapes make lessons so easy to understand   it's a highly valued teaching prop in our educational program."
Todd Cullison, Executive Director, Hawaii Nature Center, Honolulu

Your model is a magnet ... the kids 'get it' and become the advocates at home. When trying to educate the public (which is part of our MS4 permit responsibility) we are lucky if a few adults stop by and talk about stormwater. Most folks are busy and give you only a few-second look-see. When we use your model it attracts the kids for 10 minutes or more, and you get the parents as a bonus. We are finding that the kids 'get it' and become the advocates at home. Also, other (non-parent) adults pay closer attention to see what is happening. Your model is a magnet. What you and your colleagues do is making a difference in the world. Thank you.
Rob St. Germain, Chair Stormwater Advisory Committee

Underestimated it's awesomeness. This watershed model is one of my absolute favorite teaching tools. We use this at our youth camp for ages 5-14 and each age LOVES this model. There have been countless moments where something we've discussed on the model was seen within our own community and the children were the ones who identified it. It's worth it. Cleaning is really quick and easy - it's never taken more than 15 minutes and the reusable buffers last quite a long time. If you have a non-profit, give them a call to get ideas on sponsorship for one!
Amanda Laliberte, Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust

EnviroScape has been such a hit since I began using it 20 years ago! Personally, I am so excited to be able to use this model with the students of Allentown, PA, because I know that most of our student population is not really sure where their drinking water is coming from and where it goes to. I have had such success using the traditional model and I know this will really enrich their learning experience! EnviroScape has been such a hit since I began using it 20 years ago!
Jolie Chylack, Environmental Education & Outreach

Great demonstration for E-Week for over a decade! Our ASCE Pittsburgh Section has used the Watershed/Nonpoint Source Model for over a decade as part of our Engineers Week and other educational outreach activities and events. We are now looking to invest in additional models (reason that I bumped into this website). Great to see this is still possible: *highly* recommend this model for young – and older – audiences.
Cathy Bazan-Arias, ASCE Pittsburg

Used the watershed model to teach the efficacy of green infrastructure to manage stormwater, plus so much more! The arrival of the Watershed Enviroscape generated much excitement for us--we put it to use on Feb. 23 at a community water teach-in. Thanks for the quality product and its effectiveness. This watershed model is so much like our Western Lake Erie Basin of Northwest Ohio--and portrays the very problems with which we are dealing. Although two other agencies close to us willingly lend us their Enviroscapes, having one of our own makes it possible for us to give lessons during the school day for the four schools in our neighborhood. Adults enjoy hands-on activities as well. We used the watershed model during education sessions in our low-income community to teach the efficacy of green infrastructure to manage stormwater. This resulted in the installations of two large bio-cells which now prevent intersection, yard, and basement flooding in a 13 block area.
Marya Czech, Free-range Ecologist / Environmental Educator

"If you want to catch kids interest in nonpoint source pollution this model does the trick. As an Environmental Consultant to Townships, Environmental Committees, Watershed Associations, and having served on the Board of Trustees of Land Conservancy Associations and Environmental Associations, I have used the "Watershed/Non-Point Source Pollution Model" at local schools, homeowners and lake associations, township day fairs, watershed associations and conservation associations, field days, both outside and inside with phenomenal success. Both adults and kids are naturally drawn to it.
Several spray bottles with some interesting food coloring dumped at various points on the landscape (farm fields, lawns, roadways, accident scenes, the kids often make up scenarios themselves) keeps them interested in how our activities in our watershed affect both our surface and groundwater quality and quantity.
Over the years I've purchased numerous EnviroScape landscape items (farm animals, cars, trucks, etc. even a helicopter and miniature dinosaur) and let several kids rain down nonpoint source pollution on the landscape. They automatically get interested in how the pollution gets from one area to another and eventually into our surface water and groundwater. As they're enthralled by how the pollution flows and having fun, I explain how proper land use can prevent much of nonpoint source pollution."
Thomas D. Angelo, President, ECO Systems Environmental Consulting

"The statistics collected over the years show that students have a better understanding of the stormwater runoff problem through the use of this model. This helps the RCD show its funders that the program is educating the students."
Cynthia Mallett, Education Coordinator Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County

"At Cargill, the employees are the volunteers who go into the communities — with EnviroScape, they can show why pollution prevention is important for everyone. It's our way of giving back and more."
Bill Preston, Cargill, Saginaw Foods Division

"At the Sierra Club we focus on educating youth about the importance of clean water, threats of water pollution, how to decrease plastic waste, and protect local waterways. The EnviroScape is a great tool to depict how water contamination occurs by engaging youth with a creative, interactive hands-on learning model."
Elissa Yoder Mann, MS, Conservation Program Manager, Clean Water Campaign, Sierra Club-Ohio Chapter

"The EnviroScape Wetland and Floodplain Management model gives an understanding of the bigger picture by representing it on a small scale. Our EnviroScape Wetland and Floodplain Management model and Groundwater Liner kit, continue to provide a unique perspective in our water management educational outreach. The many campers and students to whom we present and facilitate programs, primarily 4th graders, learn about watersheds, wetlands and groundwater in a fun and exciting way. Having a Wetland model available for the youth, gives them the opportunity to manipulate and observe how the elements present in the environment and human interactions, affect our water ways, either positively or negatively. They become empowered as they realize the role they can serve in protecting our limited resources. Campers and students come away with a much deeper understanding of the concepts introduced by seeing the bigger picture represented on a small scale. The EnviroScape recent upgrade to the Wetland/Floodplain Management model will only strengthen this valuable education tool that proves itself year after year."
Carol Kendall, Volunteer Educational Outreach Specialist, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tri-Lakes Project, Littleton, Colorado

"We have used EnviroScape at every one of our Children's Groundwater Festivals. And, the expansion of the program and supplemental teaching materials just keep getting better through time."
Susan Seacrest, President, The Groundwater Foundation

"With EnviroScape we can dramatically show the points we are trying to make and the kids love it. Everybody gets a chance to interact and they get excited about learning something new."
Jane Schmitt, League of Women Voters, Henrietta, NY

The kids love it! I have been using the Watershed/NPS Source model for outreach at Marshall University for a few years now. The kids love it! They love it so much, in fact, that some of the small pieces have begun to disappear. Do you sell a replacement package for the items that sit on top of the table? Yes, we do ... https://www.enviroscapes.com/category/replacement-parts
Mandee Wilson, NRE Department, Marshall University

Picture is Worth a Thousand Words – A Model is Worth Even More "I'm really looking forward to using the model for the STEM4GIRLS talk! As a stormwater engineer with over 33 years of experience in municipal stormwater systems, I can attest to the power of the EnviroScape watershed model. Half the battle of gaining public support for water quality protection is explaining the problem in understandable terms. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. A model is worth even more."
June Barrett-McDaniels, PE, Aquarius Engineering

We are loving the EnviroScape model! I got to try it out last week ... students were so engaged!
Rachel Martin, M.Ed., 6-12 Science Educator, Metro Richmond STEM Fair Special Awards Coordinator, MathScience Innovation Center

"To have a 'school subject' become real made a tremendous impact. Thank you."
Susan Deglen, Richboro Elementary School

"While local issues of river health are dominating the news in New Zealand, the flow-on effect of deteriorating catchments may not be obvious but is key to understanding changes occurring in the coastal environment. The Enviroscape models are helping us creating awareness and understanding of connectivity between ecosystems with schools groups."
Sally Carson, Director, New Zealand Marine Studies Centre, University of Otago, New Zealand

"EnviroScape provides great resources and an interactive approach to environmental education in Australia. Water pollution is an issue which all countries face and the interactive and detailed models are fantastic for enhancing learning for Australian students about this topic."
Carmel Ron, Sustainability Education Officer, Victoria, Australia

"EnviroScape models have been an outstanding and a favorite as an educational tool for Mexican Water Conservation offices. Ecotoys Mexico has proudly distributed EnviroScape models for the last 5 years reaching sales in 85% of territorial Mexico and expecting a full national scale by 2018. EnviroScape models are found in urban and rural Mexico teaching thousands of kids each year ... Happy to be a part of the team."
